Life continues as usual in Jasper National Park after 2024’s devastating wildfire.
And sometimes, that life is just the cutest when it involves a porcupette.
“Wildlife cameras in the park help us capture some fascinating moments,” Alberta’s Jasper National Park posted on social media Tuesday. “Like this tender scene of what appears to be a porcupine nursing her baby.”

A baby porcupine is called a porcupette, which is probably the cutest baby name ever. Usually only one is born at a time and they come out with quills and all.
“Their quills start out soft and safely pliable, hardening withing just a few hours,” Parks Canada explained.
These spring babies stay close to their mother’s throughout the summer, but by fall they are fully independent.
Parks Canada also reminds visitors not to touch its wildlife cameras, like this one that captured such a cool moment.
“They [the cameras] are an important tool for helping us identify wildlife movement patterns, habitat use, populations, and overall health,” it added.
