Trashed Panda: Raccoon destroys Virginia liquor store before passing out drunk beside toilet

A Viriginia liquor store was recently the scene of an epic break, enter and blackout.

Hanover Country Animal Protection and Shelter responded to a call from the Ashland ABC Store the morning after some apparent Black Friday excess. Broken liquor bottles and spilled booze littered the floor.

Once inside, Officer Samantha Martin soon discovered a “‘suspect’ had broken in, ransacked several shelves, and then… passed out in the bathroom.”

The culprit?

“A very intoxicated raccoon,” the animal shelter explained.

Who hasn’t been there at one point after a little too much Thanksgiving cheer?

It turned out, the raccoon got into the store after falling through a ceiling tile.

Martin scooped up the “masked bandit” and transported him back to the shelter to sober up.

“After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,” the shelter added.

Now, you too can forever remember the infamous “Ashland Drunk Raccoon” while helping other shelter animals.

The shelter is now fundraising with a line of “trashed panda” clothing and other goods.

All proceeds from this campaign will directly support, shelter animal care and enrichment, field officer training, and equipment needed to ensure safe and humane response to wildlife calls, “including the ones who occasionally party a little too hard.”
